The Vast

Hi SP,

Only saw this post just now. I wish you and your family strength and love in dealing with your loss.

I subscribe to what Dracharla has said, and to the feelings we all seem to have about our great experiences on the Vast. For me, it is essential that we get clarity about what is going to happen with the Vast. Please, DM's, let us know your thoughts about the future of this server.

I would think that a magical item like a ring would only emit light when worn. Similarly, a light-emitting sword might only light up when not in the scabbard.

Does the use of a torch or magic item make a PC more visible to enemies? E.g. are they spotted easier by goblins?

I'm pretty sure you can buy devices that can "buffer" a power outage of a few seconds for your computer. That could prevent your problem for the future. I have no idea what such a device costs though.

About the MSN option: it can be pretty handy to use in addition to Tells in The Vast and postings on the Boards, I think. Though I believe AG has a good point: staying online on the Vast helps attract more players. The one does not exclude the other, however.<br>

We stayed in Inverness a few days on our holiday cycling tour of Scotland, and I was able to pick up the new HP there on the day it came out (16/7) . Had to carry it with me on the bike the rest of the tour , but that was well worth the extra weight
