Temporary server online.

We have set up a copy of The Vast on an old computer. It does not have the server vault on it, but you are welcome to log on and make new first level characters. If you wish, we will move your new characters over to your server vault folders once the server is repaired. We will give details regarding that at a later date.

We are not putting up a copy of the server vault because it would not match exactly what you all had at the time of the server crash. It would be too confusing to recreate lost items/gold/xp, and then take it all back later, or to merge the two copies of your PCs.

This could be a good chance for everyone to expore something totally new from the beginning.

The IP for direct connect is:

It's not showing as being online to me. Is it supposed to be the same port as the regular server (and IP address)?

I'm failing to connect, getting a timeout. Perhaps a firewall issue or something since the IP address is the same.

It's not showing on gamespy yet. I got a timeout a couple of times, but was able to connect. There is a hole in the firewall for all the NWN applications.

Looking forward to seeing the temporary Vast and trying something new on it. So far when I've tried it's been down due to server response being timed off. Hope the main server comea along well on the road to recovery.

I tried loging on this morning. Server could not be found was the error.
Im just using this as a break to get refreshed and envigorated!!!

Yeah, I don't use Gamespy to find the server. I use XFire and manually put the IP address and port in. It's nice because wherever I log into XFire I have the same favorite servers list.

I am unable to connect to the temp server via Direct connect , says server not found. I also tried xfire no luck.

What is the current status of our real server??

Haven't heard back from them yet. They said it would be 3-5 business days before they got to it. I'll let everyone know when I know something.

I got it to list on gamespy. Direct connect using the IP above.

Also been unable to get in through Direct Connect. It kept saying the server timed out (or something).
But finally made it through Gamespy, yeah:). Spent a few hours fishing at the ranger camp..........man, that felt good!

A couple of things to note about the temporary server:

1. DO NOT STORE ANY GOLD IN AN ACCOUNT AT THE DRAGON'S REACH.

2. DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING IN ANY PERSISTENT CONTAINERS.

The general database for persistent containers will not be carried over/merged. There is no guarantee that the variables that are stored on your Stone of History, which represent your gold in the bank, will be properly saved when any new PCs are added to your original character vault.

Are we considering this Temp server as a continuation of vast time line?? Or is this just up for us to mess around with untill THE VAST returns??

My position is i dont feel that the actions or activites or assumed history from Rp should carry over to the VAST from TempVast.
