I apologize if the questions are somewhat newbish, but here goes.

I was reading the HCR rules and Server rules over again, and there are a few things I don't quite get.

1. What is PHB
2. What is IAW (the potions section in HCR makes reference to both of these and I don't get it)
3. How do you do "private tells" and what is the "shout channel" and is using "custom text macros" prohibited for some reason?

Thanks in advance.

Re: A few more questions...
what can i say on the 2nd you got me too.

nr 1 would have to be " Players Hand Book "

nr 3 :

Shout is prohibited, if you want to contact a DM during the game, use the DM channel.

When creating a custom text macro, shout is what the macro will use if you dont put " /tk " infront of what you wish to say. I think you get the idea.
One way of showing that you are shouting could be = GOD DAMN IT !!
or just being loud = I hate you !

When you wish to send a private tell, you can do the following: if you are in party with the one you wish to tell, click on his/her picture. his her name will now appear in the typing area down below and you just type what you wish to say after that. you can also click on the pictures in the text journal just over the typing area. A nother way is to take the player list ( button with two swords ) choose a player and hit the tell button over the listings of players

WKR

Quote:
1. What is PHB

Player's Handbook, specifically: The AD&D Player's Hand Book, 3rd Edition

Quote:
2. What is IAW (the potions section in HCR makes reference to both of these and I don't get it)

Refer to your NWN manual on how to use shout or send tells.

As for custom text macros, I have a couple set up to "emote" certain actions i.e. nods to a guard as he passes by. As far as I know, that is not prohibited. However, be aware, there is a difference between NWN's custom text macros and "macroing".
Re: A few more questions...
Make all the custom text macros you like for your character. If they are not entered correctly, you will "shout" (server wide in yellow text) instead.

To make a custom text macro:

1)Right click on one of your empty quickslots.
2)Choose to create a cutom text macro.
3)In the first box that appears, enter a name for your macro so you will know what it will say when you click the quickslot. This is just a label for your macro.
4)In the second box, type: /tk blah, blah, this is what I want to say
5)You are done, now click your quickslot to "speak" the macro.
(you must have a space between "/tk" and "blah...")

Re: A few more questions...
Algernon's ghost, thanks for the info on the custom text macro. I didn't know we could do that. Now Faelar's greeting can be set up to go. *grins*
