Mailiani Arna
Born into a common household in the city-state of Mordulkin in the Chessenta region, Mailiani Arna worked beside her parents in the service of a merchant-lord. The Medras family was and is well known in the “City of Mages”, as Mordulkin is locally known. Mailiani caught the attention of Lord Medras’ Captain of the Guard because she organized the common children of the estate into bands so that they might better survive errands into the city where ruffians and urchin gangs were always a threat. She displayed a natural aptitude for planning, strategy, and organization.
As soon as she came of age she was placed into the estate’s mercenary unit, the Medras Company, where she was educated in combat, warfare, and leadership. She was an above average student and developed a reverence for the Red Knight, the Lady of Strategy. The mercenary commander saw in her the potential to become an able leader on the field of battle.
In the endless civil war which plagues Chessenta, her first field experience ended in disaster. Her company commander planned a sneak attack against the city of Lutcheq which involved landing in the Adder Swamp and coming in on the city from "behind". It was a good plan if not for the oversight of the swamp wererats becoming involved. The company was decimated and Mailiani fled deep into the swamp where she was eventually rescued by halflings from the Barony of Ursuma. She recovered under the protection of Baron Phlensos Ursuma, a halfling bard, and was then smuggled out to sea by boat and was picked up by a Mordulkin ship heading for Cimbar and The Vast.. She disembarked in Calaunt and has wandered up the river to Dragon Dale.
She follows her “Calling” by the Red Knight, going where she feels led, to learn what knowledge is available to her there and hopes to eventually return to Chessenta and continue the fight that will have the ‘good’ cities of Chessenta once again dominate the region.

Airspur 1/2 Orcs; Soorenar; and Lutcheq (anit-mage) against Cimbar and Mordulkin (Mages and Merchant supported mercenaries).
Akanax defeated by Soorenar a generation ago is weak and Mourktar is isolated and poor.

*She likes halflings very much, has managed to learn their language fairly well.
*She distrusts half-orcs more from rumor (Airspur) then from actual experience.
