Woodsmen skills (from in char discussions)

Post by Dracharla »

This is just to give an ooc idea of what the IC post on the boards is about.

Quinn and I really liked what Matyas had organized but also realized that some characters wouldn't feel comfortable in such a situation (ours included) nor would they likely be of much use in said training. So we thought it might be fun/useful to do something more tailored towards rangers and druids and other scout/woodsmen type characters. our goal is to practice effective scouting and tracking techniques and also perhaps develop some tactical forms for flanking enemy parties using these skills, and also to figure out and learn how to effectively employ spells like grease and entangle within a combat situation.

if anyone else has anything they'd like to see added to that or thoughts and suggestions let me know.

hopefully this won't be a one shot thing and we can do more of this and fine tune it all our first one is aiming to be this thursday at 8pm est.

I think that's awesome...however I do differ on one point. Woodsmen are quite needed in all types of parties, and so hopefully they'll attend both sort of trainings. Any party is going to need a tracker, so hopefully not all of them are uncomfortable interacting with us townspeople ;-)

Anyway, I hope it goes well on Thursday.

Great idea, Dracharla. Be true to your characters' motivations. *nodding* Learning flexibility in responding to the Goblin forces is important, IMHO. Lessons learned can apply or not to situations outside the Mhyrrwood. It's just a matter of learning on the part of our characters.

I'm glad that you all are taking the 'campaign' in these different ways, like I'd hoped. There's no rush on the campaign, and I'd like to see everyone involved to some extent consistent with their character. If we've played through all the options by Thanksgiving, that's time well spent.
I quite agree with you on this, I guess my point was that someone who will fufill the capacity of a tracker or scout will likely be ahead of the group doing those things, so it behooves them to do that to the best of their ability. Its not a doctrine of seperate but equal, but of knowing what we do best then integrating it into the larger picture -_^

Very cool :-). Samia will definitely want to join in. Thursday 8pm EST is not an option for me, though. Hopefully I'll be able to join in next time.

Sorry Nespin couldn't make it... I just now returned from my pathetic little job. Looking forward to any future training like it though.
