A Fair

The Crimson Company is going to sponsor a fair in the Dale. We plan to have bard performances, trading and at least two competetions, a melee contest and a dart/archery contest.

Our first step before full scale planning can be complete is to pick a date. OOC I would like to propose either the 22nd of April or the 29th of April as tentative dates. I would like to poll the community and see if one of these dates is prefered or whether another date entirely might be better.

Please comment and lets get this ball rolling.

I would be interested in this as Belin, I have quite a bit of 'stuff' to get rid of either by trade or sell. Both days look good to me just sorry I haven't been around much, planning ahead with events like this helps me plan ahead so that I may attend.

I'm sure Vind would love to attend the fair (assuming I'm not busy...a very big assumption) if it's at a convenient time. I'm not sure if he can do anything to help, but if you think of something, don't hesitate to ask.

Both dates seem good to me. Lyrian is excited and will try to buy a bow in time to participate (assuming there will be a contest like that).

For those interested in competing in the archery tournament, we will be using standard bows (a longbow and shortbow provided by the Company) to keep things even. There will be prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Each round will consist of three shots at the target, and the total "hit roll" for all three will be added to calculate the score. Critical hits count as bullseyes, and can potentially win the round for the competitor if their opponent cannot duplicate the bullseye that round.

In regard to the dates, either would be fine with me. I look forward to it, and I hope everyone participating has alot of fun

Oh... Those of you with Bard characters who would like to perform please let us know. Right now we are looking to have three periods of music, but this is of course subject to change.

duh........sarah's vaulted ...completely forgot about her.
if there aren't any bards on the vast, i'll ask the dm's to un-vault her............(sorry, my fault, haven't taken bards into account for a great while.....which is too bad, since they really *liven* up a place)

Kepaxii would like to perform if there was a slot for him. He can do songs, stories, and street-artist things like juggling and such. As far as dates go, April 29th isn't possible for sure and April 22nd a maybe. I'll try to open up the 22nd just in case.
I would gladly tell tales to children, unfortunately forcing aramil to do it would be troublesome.... I get these interesting thoughts of him and a dunking barrel though... I'll try to be there, and think of something to do if I can, BTW where do you plan on having it? the only clear place I know is behind the cemetary, although there is a nice stretch by the east gate I think...

Uh.... we're thinking in and around the Company Hall. The Company Hall will be open to visitors on the day selected. We hope to hold the archery contest behind the building using the cliffside as a backdrop. There is a vacant lot across the street from the Hall where we hope to set up some stuff and of course, the melee contest will occur inside the Hall. At least that is the current plan.

Two questions that came to my mind: Will there be any kind of fees to enter the contests? Will there be categories per levels? Say, 1st to 3rd, 4th to 6th, or something like that. It wouldn't be very fair to let a 10th level character compete with a 1st level one. I would suggest at least two categories: beginners and experts. This way, anyone would have a chance.

ALi...an issue like that should realy not be even relevant. The act of the competition itself is the rolplay element of getting on the line and doing what ya got to do.

Keldorn IC thinks hes got a good arm, one day he walked up on some rangers doing thier bow thing into a target at the camp...so as any dwarf would..he wipped out his axe and chalenged up..who else...Quinn!

The winner in our littel chalenge was a foregone conclusion OOC, but still IC kel did not care because he was the best axe thrower there!

The same now goes for the fair...even a mighty worrior can roll a one!..."*thwack!!*.. there goes the arrow off the side of the target, the crowd gasps!".

Winners and losers are what you make of it and how its rped out... just my two cents!..

Btw...my throwing axe is still stuck about 15' up in a tree at the camp...thats how bad kel missed the target!....
