Hi everyone,

I have two questions.

First of all, what is the server policy on the saving of skill points (not hoarding) like saving one or two points strictly for use in Cross Class skills. I've been told that some consider this a breach of the "Legal Character" boundary.

My second question is, what are these "scouts" and how often are they being done? I haven't participated yet, but I'm very interested. I have a 2nd level character, soon to be 3rd (Zagreus) so I'd be able to take care of myself and not be a burden.

Thanks in advance.

Thryllkill, I don't know about hoarding skill points. Hadn't really thought about it.

There are four main things that we get out of the scouts.
1st, it's a chance for folks to practice working together.
2nd, we use it to roleplay our characters.
3rd, we learn what's in an area.
4th, the DMs can advance certain storylines by encounters.

I'm also trying to work up a time and day for a low-level scout. I started a thread on that, and you can post comments and suggestions there.
About the skillpoints I can't see a problem in that. If you are not using the skillpoints right away, you are actually losing from it. But if it's for saving to Cross-class skills, I can only say, why not?
Can you save skill points, or do you simply lose them if you do not allocate them when you level up? I never tried this.

I've never tried it in a PW, but in the NWN and SoU campaigns, I did so, and the points carry over to the next level-up. I often take cross-class skills to diversify my characters; so knowing if the carry over is imporant to know.
Yes, they can be saved. The thing that makes some consider it cheating is the fact that you can horde them, for example, a Fighter can put points only into Discipline for 5 levels and save all his other skill points, then for his 6th level he takes Rogue and dumps the saved points into say Tumble or UMD or anything else that isn't a Class Skill for a fighter. Therein lies the bending of the rules, as this doesn't really make much sense from a RP perspective.

Re: On Skill points and scouts...
The problem is that in NWN one cannot spend into a skill without buying a full point. I sometimes save a point, so that the next level I can buy a full point in some cross class skill, but hoarding in order to get around class skills altogether is abusing an exploit in my opinion.
