A Fair

I almost beat a ranger hin in a throwing contest even taking a -4 penaly on his "throws" for being nonproficient while using a bow. he got like three criticals in the whole bout. (he had a -2 to his attack while everyone else had at least a +6)

[Reason]

We are considering different "weight classes" for the Melee competetion. This is an area we're looking at. In addition, the melee competetion will use weapons (probably clubs or bare knuckles) and a standard armor type (probably a leather sparing suit) to help even out the haves vs have nots.

When Kepaxii ran the dart tournament a few fairs ago, i don't think level played a big factor. We will try to keep everything as fair as possible, but also keep in mind we want it as streamlined as can be. Running two competitions itself may be a bit taxing timewise. <br>

Perhaps once we get a time and date nailed down, we can post a sign up sheet for both competitions, and iron out any issues then.

Its starting to sound like the 22nd might be doable. So what time slot are we looking at? I can see the entire fair lasting quite some time. Perhaps if we start it early enough everyone will have a chance to participate. <br>

I would say if it all can't be fit into one day, after the fair perhaps schedule a second as a follow up.

The 22nd is looking less and less doable. The server has been pretty dead of late. This is a busy time of year for folks in school. And those folks make up a sizable chunk of our server base. However, some of the drop off might be because of other new games on the market, ( I keep hearing Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls, in discussions) and the threat of NWN2 on the horizion. <br>

After some discussions, I think it might be best to push the date on the fair back a couple weeks. Perhaps some time in May. <br>

This usually happens each year, regardless of games that come out(well, maybe). There seems to always be a decline in certain months but comes booming back after a few more.<br>

Well, I would certainly attempt to make the fair, whatever day it might be. I haven't been playing much for a number of reasons, but if there was a planned event, I would try to make it. There might be others in similar situations.

Of course, I can't really guarantee I'd be around for the 22nd...it would depend on the time.

Well, to be honest...... we'll need some DM support for this event due to the logistics of setting up the Hall.<br>

I think if we manually unlock the entrance door as needed, it will be less of a hassle (even though it will lock again the next time someone opens & closes it). The subdual area should work fine for the melee, and we already have the target set up for the bow tourney.<br>

Time wise I am thinking of 10am - 2pm Eastern. We have held fairs around this time in the past, and it seems to work okay. Please speak up if this time frame is inconvienient. We can probably shift it earlier or later by a few hours if needed to accomodate folks.<br>
<br>
